First: Implementation Activities for Projects in Faculties / Universities.

Projects of Establishment of Internal Quality Systems "QAAP2".

• 124 Faculties / Institutes distributed over 17 Universities were funded with total fund of 15,480,000 Egyptian pounds (in the fourth and fifth cycles, March 2008 and April 2009, respectively).
•  Adoption and implementation of academic standards in various academic programs consistent with the National Academic Reference Standards (NARS) (if available), which amounted to 611 and 2340 programs of undergraduates and postgraduates studies, respectively.
• Funded projects targeted undergraduate and postgraduates students, faculty staff members, teaching assistants, administrators, technicians with a total of 573080 persons.
• 66 Developmental Engagement site visits have been conducted for projects of the fourth cycle.

Projects of Continuous Improvement and Qualification for Accreditation "CIQAP".

• Contracts with 103 Faculties / institutes distributed over 16 Egyptian Universities with a total contractual budget of 600,946,106 Egyptian pounds (4 cycles; March 2008, April 2009, October 2009, and March 2010). Total cofunding from universities contributing to the four cycles is 286,260,299 Egyptian pounds (47% of the funding for the PCIQA program).
•  Adoption and implementation of academic standards in various academic programs consistent with the National Academic Reference Standards (NARS) (if available), which amounted to 885 and 4222 programs of undergraduates and postgraduates studies, respectively.
• Funded projects targeted undergraduate and postgraduates students, faculty staff members, teaching assistants, administrators, technicians with a total of 412436 persons.
• Exploratory visits have been carried out to 17 faculties in coordination with National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE).
• Accreditation visits have been carried out to two faculties of CIQAP- first cycle by NAQAAE.
• 17 simulation visits have been implemented in faculties distributed over 6 Egyptian Universities.
• Memorandums of understanding for technical support for qualification for accreditation of each of the Faculties of Tourism and Hotels, and Dar Al Uloom, at Fayoum University on 19/05/2010.

Competitive Projects

• Contracts with the projects over three cycles: October 2009, December 2009, April 2010 respectively.
• Developing Academic Programs for Accreditation Project "DAPAP ": 13 programs distributed over 8 universities with contractual budget of 9,492,790 Egyptian pounds,
• Higher Education Labs Certification Project "HLCP": 21 labs in 12 universities with contractual budget of 19,505,958 Egyptian pounds,
• Development of Student Assessment Systems Project "DSASP": 20 projects to develop systems for assessment of student achievement in 13 universities executed through 82 faculties with a total contractual budget of 18,168,521 Egyptian pounds.

Infrastructural Quality Related Projects "IQRP"

• Infrastructural support to 12 universities with a total funding of 320,226,943 Egyptian pounds.
• Support infrastructure for 8 Egyptian nursing faculties in public universities with a total funding of 13,991,123 Egyptian pounds.
• Supporting infrastructure for Technical Colleges with a total funding of 3,904,453 Egyptian pounds.

Monitoring and Evaluation of New Programs Project "MENPP"

Follow up of 63 new academic programs distributed in 14 public universities (10 scientific sectors).

Second: Implementation Activities of the PCIQA program

Managerial Activities

An action plan for PCIQA, organizational structure, 8 meetings of the National Steering Committee, 4 meetings of directors of quality assurance centers at universities, 22 meetings with the funded projects and universities leaders for experiences exchange and cooperation in the field of technical support to universities.

Training and Capacity Building

• PCIQA has conducted 52 workshops including: 4 workshops for the training of peer reviewers, 4 workshops for writing projects, 10 workshops on projects management, 11 workshops for proposals' evaluators, 5 workshops on writing progress reports, 18 workshops in the area of Strategic Planning.
• In coordination with the National Center for Faculty and Leadership Development (NCFLD) during the period from 8/12/2009 to 4/1/2010, 8 training programs were carried out in four training packages (qualifying of 70 faculty members). During the period from 13/02/2010 to 03/04/2010, 6 introductory programs were held (qualifying of 51 faculty members). In addition, during the period from 05/22/2010 to 06/24/2010,  5 introductory programs were held (qualifying of 46 faculty members). Finally, 12 training programs in seven specialized training packages in the areas of quality have been carried out (qualifying of 117 faculty members).

Cooperation with other stakeholders

• Protocol with National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) for implementation of exploratory visits to 32 faculties (17 faculties have been visited).
• Contracting with National Center for Faculty and Leadership Development (NCFLD) on 25/3/2009 for preparation of 9 training packages and training of trainers in the field of quality and accreditation (7 training packages were delivered and their training programs have been carried out).
• Coordination with the Industrial Modernization Centre (IMC) to finance the accreditation procedures of HLCP contracted laboratories.
• On-going the integration and coordination with the project management information systems of the project (ICTP) to activate the operation of electronic applications in the field of quality management in universities.

Dissemination and Technical Support

• An updated regularly website (in both Arabic and English versions) - more than 22,350 visitors.
• Program publications (Monthly Newsletters, Introductory Guide , Applicants’ Guidelines for Competitive Projects Funded by PCIQA, Monitoring and Evaluation Guide for program funded projects, Brochure).

Monitoring and evaluation activities for funded projects

• 6 quarterly progress reports, 755 field visits, 420 field and coordination meetings, 9 financial settlements, financial transfers .....).
• During the academic years 2007/2008, 2008/2009, 2009/2010 , 147 field visits have been implemented to follow up on-going new academic programs.

Coordination for transfer and experiences exchange

• First Forum for CIQAP projects teams was held on 29/10/2010 (attended by  527 persons from universities).
• First Forum for HLCP projects teams was held on 2/6/2010 (attended by  97  persons from universities).
• First Forum for DSASP projects teams was held on 14/6/2010 (attended by  277 persons from  universities).
